OmniGraffle for iOS 2.1

March 5, 2015

Requires iOS 8

OmniGraffle v2.1 is now a universal app which runs on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices! It’s now available in Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish. We’ve added support for the new Fill Effects and Filters which we recently introduced in OmniGraffle 6.1 for Mac, and fixed a number of bugs and other issues.

  • Fill Effects — [Pro] Fill Blend and Filter effects are now available, making it possible to blur, pixelate, and magnify content behind a shape. (These effects are also available in OmniGraffle Pro for Mac, starting with v6.1.)
  • Editing Points — We’ve added a mode for editing the points of the current shape which you can access by selecting a shape or line, then tapping the new double-bordered diamond icon in the bottom toolbar. This mode makes it much easier to drag existing points, add points, and remove points.
  • Updated Layout — The layout of the interface has been adapted to work on smaller iPhone and iPod touch screens as well as larger iPad screens. As a result, many of the tools may no longer be where they used to be–and may even shift automatically to different locations depending on your screen size and orientation. We hope we’ve done this in a way that makes the app even easier to use efficiently, but if you have any comments about any of the changes please don’t hesitate to email us!
  • Distance Smart Guides — Distance smart guides now draw in the same light blue as other smart guides (rather than black).
  • Canvas Edges — When editing a Bézier curve, its red control points will draw properly when they’re off the edge of the canvas. Dragging an object off the edge of the canvas will no longer clip the shape.
  • Moving Unconnected Lines — Fixed a bug where moving a line which isn’t connected to a shape would not mark a document as needing to be saved, so if you closed the document without making other edits those moves would be lost.
  • Canvas Scrollability — It’s now always possible to scroll the canvas fully out from under the nav bar and drawing toolbar.
  • Stray Touch Indicator — Adjusting an end point for a connectable shape will no longer leave the touch indicator visible after you stop touching the screen.
  • Stability — Fixed an issue with loading documents that have shapes which display the Page Number variable.
  • Label Jitters — Double-tapping the canvas to add a label will no longer cause the canvas to shift positions twice as the keyboard appears and editing begins.
  • Text Tool Double-Tap — When the Text tool is active, a double-tap will now behave the same as a single tap (adding a text field) rather than leaving you editing a phantom text field that would disappear when you finished editing.
  • Stencil Search Formatting — Search results from an online stencil search will now scale their preview images to the same width so that everything aligns nicely.
