Omni Apps Updated with iOS 13 Features

We’ve updated OmniFocus, OmniGraffle, OmniOutliner, and OmniPlan with support for new features in iOS 13 and other enhancements. These changes are all about boosting your productivity — and we think you’ll be as excited as we are at how you can accomplish more every day!

The stories for each of our apps are similar…

Dark Mode and Multiple Windows

All of our apps have adopted native Dark Mode, and they follow your system setting, even if you’ve set it to automatically switch. Dark Mode can help with eye strain — but it’s even more important than that: for some people it’s a critical accessibility feature. Plus — it’s beautiful.

Our apps also support multiple windows on iPadOS 13. Multiple windows are great when you need to make similar changes in two documents, or you need information from one document when working on another one. This is a huge productivity boost for people who get their work done on iPad. No more switching back and forth between documents — no more closing one document, opening another, closing that one, then going back to the first one.

Here’s a screenshot of OmniPlan running in Dark Mode with two windows open:

Context Menus

OmniFocus, OmniGraffle, and OmniPlan have added support for Context Menus. You can quickly perform common actions by tapping and holding. This can be a real time-saver — and it helps with discovery, as you can see a menu of actions you can perform on a given item.

Here’s a screenshot of OmniGraffle showing a Context Menu:

Adopting Apple’s Standard Document Browser

While Apple’s standard document browser is not new in iOS 13, it has a lot of great new features in iOS 13: Column View, external drive support, improved local storage, file servers, search suggestions, a downloads folder, zip and unzip, and a host of new keyboard shortcuts.

So we decided to adopt it now — to bring all those new features to our apps and because it gives you more flexibility with where you store your documents. (You might prefer iCloud Drive, for instance.)

You can continue to use OmniPresence, too! We’ve published a support article about OmniPresence workflow changes that you may want to read if you use OmniPresence.

More Details: Release Notes

Each of our apps has its own page of release notes that list everything that’s changed with their iOS 13 features releases.

Bonus! OmniDiskSweeper Updated for Catalina

Our Mac apps are all compatible with Catalina, the latest macOS. One of them that we don’t mention that often is OmniDiskSweeper — and it too is now Catalina-compatible.

OmniDiskSweeper is our free app for helping you find large files and folder on your hard drive, so you can free up space on disk.

Read all about this update on our blog, then go download OmniDiskSweeper and try it out! It does what it says on the tin. :)

The Omni Show: Looking Outside

On our every-other-week podcast, we’re starting to do interviews with people who use our apps. Hopefully you’ll learn some things that will be useful to you!

We’ve published the first two of these — and there are plenty more to follow.
