We released OmniGraffle 6 about 5 weeks ago and, starting November 9th at 9 a.m., you can download it from the Mac App Store. With it comes all the same features you’ll find in our store — even a discounted upgrade to Professional if you’re running a copy of OmniGraffle 5 from the Mac App Store. “So how’d you get upgrade pricing?” is a question you might be asking. (Which makes sense; we’ve been after it since the beginning of the App Store!)
Because we’ve switched to an in-app purchase to add Professional features like AppleScript, Visio import and export, and more, OmniGraffle starts at $99.99. (As it has for a while.) If you have OmniGraffle 5 Standard or Pro installed via the Mac App Store—it must be via the Mac App Store, not ours—we can offer discounts based on prior purchases.
How?
- Your copy of OmniGraffle 5 from the Mac App Store needs to be installed — we need it to verify your purchase, and you can delete it later. If you didn’t purchase from the Mac App store, follow these instructions.
- Make your purchase of OmniGraffle 6 for $99.
- From the OmniGraffle menu, select In-App Purchase.
- We’ll ask you to point us to your copy of OmniGraffle 5 — you’ll see an extra option to purchase the upgrade for $49.99 if you own 5 Standard; and you’ll see it’s free if you own 5 Pro.
Now you have OmniGraffle 6 Professional, from the Mac App Store, for $99.99. If you’re upgrading from Standard? $149.98.
What if I already purchased 6 from your store?
That’s great! You don’t have to change a thing: purchases made from our store are able to take advantage of more flexible pricing options than we can offer in the Mac App Store. If you wish you’d known about this plan sooner so you could have purchased version 6 from the Mac App Store instead of from our store, please contact sales@omnigroup.com and we’ll be happy to offer you a full refund.

(We’re sorry for any extra hassle this causes: until today, we weren’t sure whether Apple would approve this strategy in the App Store. It seemed reasonable to us—but then again so did OmniKeyMaster!)
